Eastern Michigan Captures 2014 MAC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Title
Final Results
ATHENS, Ohio -- Eastern Michigan claimed its 22nd outdoor title at the 2014 Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships Saturday in Athens, Ohio. The Eagles finished 198.50 with points, Akron finished second with 180.50 points, and in third, Kent State with 157 points. Following was Buffalo (138), Central Michigan (70), and Miami (69).
Eastern Michigan's Donald Scott started off the final day of the MACChampionship winning his second event of the meet in the triple jump. Scott jumped 15.52m to win the title while Akron's Michael Ohiembor finished second with a spot of 15.23m. Kent State' Jailyn Twitty placed third with a jump of 15.19m.
In the men's 4x100 meter relay, Eastern Michigan's team of Cameron Bolton, Jeff Elam, Chris Scott, and Tyler Brown placed first with a time of 40.01. Kent State took second with a time of 40.30 and Buffalo third with a time of 40.31.
In the 1500 meter run, Akron's Clayton Murphy took home the gold with a time of 4:02.38 whilte Eastern Michigan's Grzegorz Kalinowski placed second with a time of 4:02.80. Akron's Daniel Zupan took third with a time of 4:04.08.
Kent State's William Barnes placed first in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 13.86. Last year's champion, Buffalo's Ryan Billian, placed second with a time of 14.08 while Eastern Michigan's Bryce Lindsey took third with a time of 14.13.
In the 400 meter dash, Eastern Michigan's Tyler Brown won the event with a time of 46.30 while Kent State's Miles Dunlap took second with a time of 46.59. Akron's Brent gray placed third with a time of 46.87.
Kent State's Wayne Gordon won his second consecutive 100 meter dash with a time of 10.50. Eastern Michigan's Cameron Bolton placed second with a time of 10.61 and in third, Buffalo's Miles Lewis (10.61).
Eastern Michigan's Grzegorz Kalinowski won the 800 meter run with a time of 1:48.44 while his teammate, Scott Bradley placed second with a time of 1:50.10. Miami's Wade Coffin took third with a time of 1:50.33.
Central Michigan's Parker Scott defended his title in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 51.25. Kent State's Miles Dunlap placed second with a time of 51.55 while Akron's Sean Weems placed third with a time of 51.99.
In the field events, Akron's Martel Durant placed first in the high jump clearing a height of 2.10 while Kent State's Reginald won the men's discus title with a throw of 58.23m.
In the men's 5,000 meter run, Akron's Kyle Cochrun took first with a time of 14:29.29 while Eastern Michigan's Willy Fink and Lahsene Bouchikhi placed second and third with times of 14:34.43 and 14:35.39.
Eastern Michigan finished off the meet with a win in the 4x400 meter relay. The team of Jeff Elam, Cameron Bolton, Mason Waynes, and Tyler Brown finished with a time of 3:09.79.
