Kent, Ohio -- The Missouri Tigers won their second consecutive MAC Wrestling Tournament Championship with a final team total of 118.5 points, followed closely by MAC Regular Season Champion, Northern Iowa with 116 points. In an extremely close finish ony two and one-half points separated first-place Missouri and second-place Northern Iowa. Old Dominion finished third with 97 points, while Ohio (94.5 points) and Central Michigan (85.5 points) rounded out the top five team finishers.
Northern Iowa paced the way with four individual champions as Dylan Peters (125 weight class), Joe Colon (133 weight class), Joey Lazor (141 weight class) and Cooper Moore (165 weight class) won their respective weight classes. Missouri had two individual wrestling champions with Drake Houdashelt (149 weight class) and J'Den Cox (197 weight class) as did Ohio with Cody Walters (174 weight class) and Jeremy Johnson (285 weight class) winning for the Tigers and Bobcats, respectfully. Host Kent State had Ian Miller (157 weight class) and Old Dominion's Jack Dechow (184 weight class) round out the individual champions.
Missouri freshman J'Den Cox won the Tournament Outstanding Wrestler award as Cox won the 197 weight class with an impressive 10-1 decision over Ohio's Phillip Wellington.
