Chippewas Capture Fifth-Straight MAC Title

FINAL RESULTS

YPSILANTI, Mich. – Central Michigan University captured the 2014 Mid-American Conference Gymnastics Title Saturday afternoon marking their fifth straight title and 15 in program history.

The Chippewas had a final team score of 196.475 with Kent State following in second scoring a 195.125 and in third Bowling Green with 194.625. Northern Illinois (194.150), Ball State (193.975), Eastern Michigan (193.850), and Western Michigan (191.575) rounded out the event.

CMU concluded their final rotation on bars with the highest team bar score of the night with a 49.475. Kylie Fagan contributed with a 9.950 on bars, while Karlee Teet and Taylor Noonan with 9.900's. On floor, Taylor Bolender and Halle Moraw added scores of 9.900 and 9.850 to the team score of 49.025.  On beam, the Chippewas compiled a 48.975 and on vault a 49.000.

CMU’s Kylie Fagan was the uneven bars champion with a score of 9.950. Fagan’s teammates Karlee Teet and Taylor Noonan and Kent State’s Rebecca Osmer and Marie Case all tied for second with a 9.900.

On floor exercise, Ball State’s Denasiha Christian scored a 9.925 winning the event. CMU’s Taylor Bolender took second with a 9.900 and in third BGSU’s Megan Harrington with a 9.850.

BGSU’s Amanda Lievendag and Kent State’s Marie Case tied for first on vault with a score of 9.850, while CMU's Fagan was crowned the uneven bar champion with a 9.950.

Marie Case, who was named MAC Gymnast and Senior Gymnast of the Year, was All-Around champion for the second year in a row. She was also the beam champion with a score of 9.900.
