Kent State Loses on the Road 72-54 at Northwestern

EVANSTON, Ill. – Kent State (0-3) lost 72-54 on the road at Northwestern (3-0) Friday night.
The Wildcats took the lead out of the opening whistle and would not relinquish it for the rest of the night. The game was 38-25 at the half before Northwestern went on a 5-0 run to open the second to take a 20-point lead.
Kent State struggled with attempts from three-point range, making just two of 11 while Northwestern sunk six of 14. The Wildcats also made 10% more of their shots from field goal range.
CiCi Shannon and Melanee Stubbs led the team offensively, each with ten points on the night. Montia Johnson finished with a team-high nine rebounds to go along with eight points. Both Naddiyah Cross and Mikell Chinn had five assists while equally splitting time running the point.
The Golden Flashes' bench continued to provide with 28 points in the game, compared to just 13 from the Wildcats' reserves. Both teams had an equal amount of points in the paint (32) while Kent State outrebounded 46-36.
Kent State's next contest will be Tuesday, Nov. 25 at home. The Golden Flashes will host Belmont in the M.A.C. Center at 11a.m. Tickets are available by calling 330-672-2244.
