Eastern Michigan Grabs 19th MAC Cross Country Title
2014 Men's Cross Country Team & Individual Results
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - Eastern Michigan claimed its 19th Men's Championship title in school history as MAC teams fought it out at the 2014 MAC Cross Championships. EMU had five runners finish in the top 10.
Eastern Michigan’s Willy Fink claimed his first men's individual title with a time of 24:15. Fink’s teammate, Lahsene Bouchikhi, finished in second with a time a of 24:20, while Miami’s Joseph Stewart crossed the finish line in third with a time of 24:21.
Eastern Michigan scored a total of 23 points, while Akron came in second with 49 points. Central Michigan finished in third place (99 points) and Buffalo followed in fourth place (102 points). Ohio (fifth, 121 points), Kent State (sixth, 166 points), Miami (seventh, 181 points), Toledo (Eighth, 210 points) and Bowling Green (ninth, 276 points) rounded out the field.
Eastern Michigan's John Goodridge was named the MAC Men's Coach of the Year for the fifth consecutive season and the 10th time in his career. The honor was selected by the leagues head coaches following the race. This was also Goodridge's ninth MAC Championship Title as head coach.
2014 NCAA Regional Championships will take place on November 14th.
