Toledo Rockets Capture Sixth MAC Cross Country Title

2014 Women's Cross Country Team and Individual Results

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - University of Toledo’s women’s cross country team captured their sixth Mid-American Conference title with five runners among the top 15 finishers at the 2014 Mid-American Conference Championships.

Eastern Michigan’s Victoria Voronko claimed her first women's individual title with a MAC record time of 20.21. The past record of 20:35.3 was set by Ohio’s Juli Accurso in 2011. Western Michigan freshman Maria McDaniel finished in second with a time of 20:26, while Voronko’s teammate, Sofie Gallein, took home the bronze with a time of 20:28.

EMU came in second with 69 points. Miami followed in third place (103 points), while Bowling Green followed in fourth place (127 points). Central Michigan (fifth, 155 points), Western Michigan (sixth, 183 points), Buffalo (seventh, 187 points), Kent State (eighth, 202 points), Northern Illinois (ninth, 212 points), Ohio (10th, 231 points), Akron (11th, 258 points) and Ball State (12th, 359 points) rounded out the field.

Toledo's Linh Nguyen was named the MAC Women's Coach of the Year. The honor was selected by the leagues head coaches following the race. 

NCAA Regional Championships will take place on Nov.14.
