Other Nominees:
Ryan Heuton, Bowling Green, Goalkeeper
R-Sophomore; Chico, Calif. / Pleasant Valley
Bowling Green redshirt sophomore Ryan Heuton surrendered just one goal in a pair of matches last week. He picked up his third complete-match shutout in his third start at BGSU on Tuesday, as the Falcons downed Cleveland State, 1-0 in overtime. He allowed only one goal, on a penalty kick, in the Falcons’ narrow 1-0 loss to the Zips in Saturday’s MAC opener. That goal is the only goal Heuton has allowed in his BGSU career. He has a goals-against average of just 0.22 and a saves percentage of .941 this season, his first playing season with the Falcons. Heuton has yet to allow a goal from the run of play in over 414 minutes this fall.
Russell Cicerone, Buffalo, Forward
Sophomore, Bloomfield, MI/ Brother Rice
Sophomore forward Russell Cicerone continued his stellar offensive display on Friday night against Western Michigan as he scored the game-tying goal with 12 seconds remaining in the second half. Cicerone set up teammate Alec Fisher for a shot with 15 seconds left that was batted down with a hand by the Broncos defender in the box. Cicerone took the ensuing penalty kick and his attempt was saved by the diving keeper but the rebound came right back to him and he calmly buried the ball in the back of the net for the tying goal with 12 seconds to play in regulation. Cicerone finished the match with a game-high six shots including three on goal for the Bulls, as he was the most dominant player on the field all game long. For the season, Cicerone leads the Bulls with six goals, 13 points and 30 shots.
