Men's Basketball All-MAC Teams, All-Freshman Team Announced
Cleveland, Ohio - Today the Mid-American Conference announced the All-MAC First Team, Second Team and Honorable Mention selections for the 2010-11 season. The teams were voted on by the league's head coaches. The league's All-Freshman team was also announced today.
Kent State's Justin Greene headlined the All-MAC First Team after being selected as this year's MAC Player of the Year. Joining Greene on the first team is Miami's Julian Mavunga, Ohio's D.J. Cooper, Northern Illinois' Xavier Silas and Ball State's Jarrod Jones.
The All-MAC Second Team featured Eastern Michigan's Brandon Bowdry, Akron's Nikola Cvetinovic, Kent State's Rod Sherman, Buffalo's Byron Mulkey and Western Michigan's Demetrius Ward.
Honorable mention recognition went to Buffalo's Zach Filzen and Javon McCrea, Bowling Green teammates A'uston Calhoun and Scott Thomas, Central Michigan's Jalin Thomas and Trey Zeigler, Kent State's Michael Porrini, Miami's Nick Winbush, Ohio's DeVaughn Washington and Western Michigan's Flenard Whitfield.
The MAC All-Freshman team was led by Buffalo's McCrea and Central Michigan's Zeigler. Joining them on this year's squad was Ball State's Chris Bond, Ohio's Nick Kellogg and Western Michigan's Juwan Howard Jr.
Men's Quarterfinal action takes place tomorrow at Quicken Loans Arena on Thursday as No. 2 Western Michigan takes on No. 7 Bowling Green at Noon, No. 3 Miami faces off against No. 6 Akron at 2:30 p.m., No. 1 Kent State plays No. 8 Buffalo at 7 p.m. and No. 4 Ball State will tangle with No. 5 Ohio at 9:30 p.m.
