- The 2006 MAC Championship game marks the 10th anniversary of the event
- Second-straight year the MAC Championship game participants are both participating in the game for the first time (Akron v. Northern Illinois ? 2005); third time in history of MAC Championship game Miami v. Bowling Green ? 2003) besides the inaugural game (Marshall v. Toledo ? 1997)
- Ohio is the seventh team to be held scoreless in the opening quarter of the MAC Championship (second MAC East team; 1999 ? Western Michigan 7, Marshall 0)
- Central Michigan’s 17-7 lead marks just the third time the MAC West representative has taken a lead into halftime
- Damien Linson’s (CMU) seventh reception of the game gave him 191 yards receiving, a new MAC Championship game record
- Dave LeFevour (CMU) became the third quarterback to throw three touchdowns and ninth signal caller to amass 300 or more yards passing
- Attendance of 25,483 is fourth largest crowd in MAC Championship game history
- Damien Linson (CMU) broke MAC Championship game yards per reception record with 27.3 yards per catch (7-191)
- 2006 MAC Championship game MVPs were Damien Linson (CMU) and Jameson Hartke (Ohio)
- Central Michigan earns its first ever MAC Championship game title and first conference crown since 1994
- Ontario Sneed broke MAC Championship game record for longest run from scrimmage with a 96-yd scoring run at the 6:07 mark of the fourth quarter (2001; Chester Taylor, Toledo ? 65 vs. Marshall)
- Central Michigan’s first-ever MAC Championship game win, 31-10, was the second-most decisive victory in game history and only the second contest to be decided by 10 points or more (2003 ? Miami 49, Bowling Green 27; 22 points)
Ohio Notes
- First ever MAC East championship for Ohio since inception of divisions in 1997
- First ever appearance in the MAC Championship game
- Ohio has won the MAC Championship three times (1953, 1963, 1968)
- Frank Solich is the first MAC Coach of the Year to have his team appear in the MAC Championship game since Terry Hoeppner (Miami) in 2003
- Kalvin McRae’s two-yard TD at the 11:10 mark of the second quarter was his 15th of the season, a new Ohio single-season record; it was also marked his eighth-straight game with at least one rushing TD
- Central Michigan’s 17-7 lead at the 3:04 mark of the second quarter gave Ohio its first double-digit deficit since trailing Bowling Green, 21-9, at the 2:07 mark of the final quarter in a loss on Sept. 30
- Josh Febus (Dublin, Ohio/Dublin Coffman) attempted his first collegiate pass at the 5:01 mark of the 2006 MAC Championship game
- Febus’ first career completion came at the 14:52 mark of the fourth quarter, a one-yard completion to Rudy Sylvan

- LeFevour’s 71-yard touchdown pass to Damien Linson at the 9:56 mark of the second quarter was the team’s second-longest scoring pass of the season (Longest ? LeFevour to Cétoute for 88 yards against Bowling Green)
- Bryan Anderson’s four-yard reception in the third quarter was his 67th of the season, a new Central Michigan single-season record
- Linson hauled in a season-high 191 yards on seven receptions
- LeFevour threw for over 300 yards (314) for second time this season (360 vs. Kentucky ? Sept. 30)
- LeFevour threw for at least three touchdowns for the fifth time this season (Kentucky [4] ? 9/30; Toledo [3] ? 10/7; Temple [4] ? 11/4; Buffalo [3] ? 11/24)
