CLEVELAND -- The University of Toledo, which shared the Mid-American Conference regular season title as well as the West Division crown with a 12-4 record, has earned the No. 1 seed in the Kraft MAC Women's Basketball Tournament. It is the third time since 1999 and the sixth time overall that the Rockets have been the top seed in the conference's tournament. The 22nd edition of the tournament will begin with five first round games on campus sites Saturday, Mar. 8.
Following the first round contests, quarterfinal action will commence at Cleveland's Gund Arena for the third consecutive season on Wednesday, Mar. 12. Semifinal action will take place on Friday, Mar. 14, with the championship game slated for Saturday, Mar. 15.
Earning a first round by along with the Rockets are Miami, the East Division champion, and Ball State, which shared both titles with Toledo. The RedHawks are the No. 2 seed, while the Cardinals are the No. 3 seed.
The tournament schedule is as follows:
Saturday, March 8 - First round games on campus sites
Game 1 - No. 9 Marshall (11-16) at No. 8 Northern Illinois (12-15), 7:05 p.m. (CT)
Game 2 - No. 12 Ohio (8-19) vs. No. 5 Kent State (15-12), 5 p.m.
Game 3 - No. 13 Akron (2-25) at No. 4 Western Michigan (16-11), 2 p.m.
Game 4 - No. 10 Bowling Green (12-15) at No. 7 Eastern Michigan (12-15), 7 p.m.
Game 5 - No. 11 Central Michigan (11-16) at No. 6 Buffalo (17-10), 7 p.m.
Wednesday, March 12 - Quarterfinals, Gund Arena
Game 6 - Winner G1 vs. No. 1 Toledo (19-8), 1 p.m.
Game 7 - Winner G2 vs. Winner G3, 3 p.m.
Game 8 - Winner G4 vs. No. 2 Miami (16-11), 5:30 p.m.
Game 9 - Winner G5 vs. No. 3 Ball State (18-8), 7:30 p.m.
Friday, March 14 - Semifinals, Gund Arena

Game 12 - Winner G10 vs. Winner G11, 1 p.m.
The semifinals and the championship game of the women's tournament will be televised on the following Fox Sports Net regional affiliates: FSN Ohio, Detroit, Midwest, Pittsburgh, Chicago and Empire Sports. The first semifinal contest will be broadcast live on all six regional networks, while Fox Sports Net Ohio will carry the second semifinal live while the others will air the game on a tape-delayed basis. The championship game will be carried live by the six regional networks.
