Preseason poll favorite Central Michigan University wins the 2002 Mid-American Conference championship with a team score of 93. Northern Illinois places second with a score of 69.5. Placing third was Kent State with a score of 55.5 followed by Ohio with 53.5. Finishing up was Buffalo and Eastern Michigan with scores of 30.5 and 26 respectively.

All-MAC team members consist of Marlon Felton, NIU, Jason Mester, CMU, Ty Morgan, CMU, Tony Gansen, CMU, Anthony Carrizales, Ohio, Luke Moore, Ohio, and David Bolyard, CMU.

Freshman of the Year honors went to Jake Percival, Ohio. Scott Owen of NIU was chosen as Wrestler of the Year. Coach of the Year honors went to Dave Grant of NIU.
