Jack McLain, MAC (Football)
Jack McLain served the Mid-American Conference as the supervisor of officials for 18 years. McLain was inducted into the MAC Hall of Fame in 1992 when he retired. McLain offciated college football for 35 years before retiring from officiating in 1975 before serving as supervisor of officials.
A graduate of Columbus South High School, McLain was a three-year letterman in baseball and basketball at Ohio State University. After graduating from Ohio State in 1942, McLain was an outfielder in the St. Louis Cardinal farm system for seven years.
McLain officiated college football for 35 years, 29 of them in the MAC, where he worked the Tangerine Bowl, the Sun Bowl, the Grantland Rice Bowl and the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl games. In addition, he was a MAC basketball official for 10 years.
He was also the supervisor of officials for the United Football League in 1961 and a head linesman in the National Football League in 1962 and 1963.
