Phil Villapiano, Bowling Green (Football)

Phil Villapiano, a three-year starter at defensive end for the Falcons, was a first-team All-MAC selection as a junior and senior. In 1970, Villapiano's efforts were rewarded by being named MAC Defensive Player of the Year. He was a part of three post-season all-star teams following his senior season.

Villapiano was drafted in the second round by the Oakland Raiders, and was a finalist for the Raiders Rookie of the Year Award the following season, after leading the team in tackles. He played in four Pro Bowls as an outside linebacker, playing thirteen seasons with the Raiders (nine) and Buffalo Bills (four). Villapiano retired in 1983 from the NFL, playing in over 160 games (starter in 121).
