Manny Newsome, Western Michigan (Men's Basketball)
Manny Newsome played basketball at Western Michigan from 1962-64. In 1964 he was named All-American and was a three-time All-American Conference first team selection. Newsome holds the school career record for points (1786), field goals (729) and per game scoring average (26.3).
Newsome twice led the MAC in scoring and also owns the Western Michigan season point record (653 in 1964) and per game scoring average (32.2) and is former record holder for field goals (262 in 1964).
Newsome held positions as assistant dean for student activities at Indiana State University and dean of student affairs at the University of Toledo. He was a charter inductee into the Mid-American Conference Hall of Fame in 1988.
