Ball State Cardinals | Results
MILWAUKEE, Wis. -
Sarah Shahbaz and
Isabel Tanjuatco of the Ball State women's tennis team were crowned the doubles champions at the 49th annual Milwaukee Tennis Classic this weekend. The tournament is a certified Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) event which consists of the some of the top-rated women players from colleges and universities throughout the country.
"I'm really proud of Sarah and Izzy for winning the prestigious Milwaukee Tennis Classic tournament," Ball State head women's tennis coach
Sachin Kirtane said. "There was several Power 4 Conferences represented in this tournament and for them to win it is a testament of how well they played. They represented the Cardinals in a first-class manner, and we are excited to watch them keep improving throughout the fall."
Shahbaz and Tanjuatco took down the Miami RedHawks Evelyn Risner and Avery Voss by a score of 6-4 to advance to the round of 16. The Cardinals' duo then defeated South Florida's twosome of Francesca Miglio and Charlotte Ruud by a 6-4 decision to move on to the semifinal round.
In the semifinals, Tanjuatco and Shahbaz eliminated the doubles tandem from Big Ten foe Wisconsin Karolina Jacobson and Parker Christensen by a score of 6-4 which allowed the BSU doubles team to reach the title match.
On Sunday, Shahbaz and Tanjuatco tallied a 6-3 victory versus Lipscomb's Sofia Paladi and Deborah Dominguez Collado which earned them the prestigious crown.
Both Shahbaz and Tanjuatco also competed in the women's open singles flight with Tanjuatco winning her first match over Rudd 6-0, 3-6, 10-4. Shahbaz earned a bye in the round of 64 and beat her opponent from Western Michigan Frida Weijerman, 6-0, 6-3.
This is the second-straight week the Ball State twosome of Shahbaz and Tanjuatco have won their respective doubles flights, last weekend the duo was crowned MVPs in doubles play at Xavier. Currently the duo own a 7-0 overall record thus far this season in doubles play.
The Ball State women's tennis team continues fall action when it travels to Kalamazoo, Michigan for the MAC Individual Championships which will be hosted by Western Michigan University from October 3-5.

ANNAPOLIS, MD – The University at Buffalo women's tennis team capped off a solid weekend at the Navy Invitational with a doubles championship and three singles titles.
To start the day in doubles action,
Deanne Choo and
Sarah Hartel defeated Villanova's Olivia Corcoran and Jenna Stevens 6-2 to win the championship in Flight B.
In singles action, it was an all-UB final in Flight A, as
Esmee Andresen defeated teammate
Maria Glowacka 3-6, 6-4, 10-5 in a three-set thriller. Hartel continued her stellar play, winning Flight B with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Villanova's Lauren Monti and in the second all-UB final of the day in Flight C,
Sofia Zagumennova earned a hard-fought victory over Choo 6-4, 3-6, 12-10.
Up next, Buffalo returns to action next weekend at the MAC Fall Invitational, hosted by Western Michigan.
Western Michigan Broncos | Results
MILWAUKEE -- The Western Michigan women's tennis team wrapped up the 2025 Milwaukee Classic over the weekend.
The Broncos opened things on Thursday with
Lola Glantz and
Frida Weijerman picking up singles wins. Glantz defeated Sarah Millard from Arkansas State 3-6, 6-0, 1-0. Weijerman earned a 6-4, 6-4 win over Owen Wilkinson from Ole Miss. In doubles action, it was
Polina Khotko and
Sienna Osborne picking up a 7-6 win over Anna Grigoreva and Meghna Arun Kumar from Arkansas State.
Marielou Baudouin and
Audrey Smitek also earned a doubles win, defeating Lipscomb's Martinia Bovio and Serafima Bobrovinkova 6-4.
On Friday it was Osborne and Glantz picking up singles wins. Osborne took down Marquette's Emma Davis 7-5, 6-1, while Glantz defeated Ellison Reynoldson from Wisconsin 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-4). Glantz and Weijerman picked up the lone win in doubles on the day, a 6-2 victory over Miami (OH)'s Evelyn Risner and Avery Voss.
Glantz earned another singles win on Saturday, defeating Sasha Sakura Stulaf rom DePaul 6-2, 7-5. In doubles action
Marielou Baudouin and
Audrey Smitek picked a win due to a retirement against Purdue's Ida Clement and Fatima Gutierrez. Also picking up a win was Glantz and Weiejman, 6-3, against Ole Miss' Wilkinson and Ichino Horikawa.
Things wrapped up on Sunday with Glantz earning a 7-6 (7-5), 0-6, 1-0 (10-1) win over Analise Kocevar, while the duo of Glantz and Weierman picked up another win in doubles. The pair defeated Reynoldson and Maya Bordereua from Wisconsin 6-3.
Bowling Green Falcons
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Over the weekend, the BGSU tennis team hosted a Hidden Duals event featuring opponents Butler, Findlay, and Wayne State. The event featured three rounds of dual matches for each team, totaling three rounds of singles matches and three rounds of doubles matches for each team.
Although this event was sanctioned by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), scores from the event will not affect the teams' records. They will, however, affect individual players' records. Individual records from the weekend's action can be found below.
