Hamilton, N.Y. – Central Michigan Field Hockey took on the Colgate Raiders Friday afternoon in a non-conference matchup. The Chippewas came out on top 2-1, marking their third consecutive victory.
The Chippewas have not won three consecutive games since 2014, when the program took down Ball State, Longwood, and Miami (OH) over the course of seven days.
Sophomore keeper Jenna Billig started the day in goal for the Chippewas. She logged three saves through the first 15 minutes and faced three Raider penalty corners.
Colgate found their first and only goal of the match three minutes into the second quarter, capitalizing on the fallout of a penalty corner.
The Chippewas, in typical fashion of the 2025 squad, responded quickly. Just two minutes later the CMU drew a penalty corner where Junior Hailey Bainer snuck a shot between the legs of the Raiders' keeper after the insert from Senior Amelia Lane. The goal was Bainer's first of her collegiate career, and Lane's first assist of the season.
The CMU defense then went on an outstanding run, not allowing a shot on target until the 52nd minute, when Colgate took one off a corner. The Raiders' shot went past keeper Ashley Cogger, who subbed in for Billig at the half, and was stopped when Freshman Pleun Van Gent was able to swoop in and collect her second defensive save of the season.
With only two minutes left in regulation, Senior Mallory Camryn was able to put home the game winner for the second game in a row. Camryn was set up by Freshman Mora Rulli when she fed the ball down low to Camryn, who made a move around the keeper to put the Chippewas up by one. The goal was Camryn's seventh of the season, and Rulli's third assist.
Ashley Cogger finished the game with one save, coming from a last-minute attempt by the Raiders to even the game.
Alongside Bainer's first career goal, she played the full 60 minutes, put up six shots, and recorded four of the Chippewa's nine shots on goal.
CMU Field Hockey will look to extend their winning streak to four this Saturday, as the team stays in Hamilton for a neutral site game against the Long Island Sharks at 1:00 p.m.

HARRISONBURG, Va. – Alice Roeper netted a pair of goals to lift the James Madison field hockey past Towson in a 3-1 home-opening victory on Friday evening at the JMU Field Hockey Complex.
The Dukes (4-2) limited the Tigers (2-3) to two shots on goal, while Towson faced nine JMU penalty corners.
Roeper's offensive showing marked her second consecutive multi-goal game of the season and the fifth of her career. Madelief Molier scored the Dukes' final goal of the day with a feed from Azul Covarrubias. Goalkeeper Molly Schreiner registered one save to earn the 14th win of her career.
Towson's Olivia Miller found the back of the net with an assist from Ella Kaufman. Tessa Scheenstra turned in a seven-save performance as the Tigers' defense denied eight of JMU's nine corners.
After a defensive battle in the first, Roeper opened the scoring, dribbling through the defense and finding the back of the net with a back-handed shot at the 5:20 mark of the second.
JMU earned a penalty corner with three seconds remaining in the half, leading to a shot from the top of the circle from Maddie Tierney that was saved and collected by Roeper, who tapped it in to make it 2-0 at the break.
Towson responded a little over one minute into the third as Ella Kaufman's shot found the stick of Olivia Miller, who pushed it through to make it a 2-1 game.
Early in the fourth, Tierney intercepted a pass at midfield and connected with Covarrubias near the sideline, who then dished it to a cutting Molier for the near-side goal.
James Madison held an advantage in shots (16-7), shots on goal (10-2) and penalty corners (9-2).
JMU has won 28-straight contests against the Tigers and is 28-1 in the all-time series, dating back to 1976.
Roeper's performance gives her two game-winning goals this season and nine in her career.
With her third score of the season, Molier has matched her goal total from 2024. Additionally, Covarrubias' assist was the second of her junior campaign – tying the amount of helpers she produced last season.
The Dukes have won six consecutive home openers and 10 of their last 12.
JMU will go over the mountain to take on No. 3 Virginia on Sunday, Sept. 14. Game time at Turf Field is scheduled for 1 p.m. and will stream on ESPN+ via ACCNX.
