CLEVELAND, Ohio – Ohio University has been named the recipient of the Institutional Sportsmanship Award. This marks the first time in program history that the Bobcats have received the honor as voted upon by MAC membership.
“It is an honor to be recognized by our peers not only for our on-field performance, but particularly for our integrity,” said Ohio Director of Athletics Julie Cromer. “Knowing that the Council of Student-Athlete members hold us in high regard pushes our coaches, student-athletes and administrators to continue to embody the ethics and core values of the Mid-American Conference in everything we do.”
The Institutional Sportsmanship Award evolved from the Conference strategic plan as the value of sportsmanship was the center of the Conference mission statement and core values. In the voting process, every MAC institution received votes, which further supports that sportsmanship is emphasized and expected from our student-athletes, coaches and administrators across each and every MAC campus.
