AVON, Ohio – The Toledo baseball team will continue its run in the 2025 Mid-American Conference Tournament after a 6-2 triumph over Eastern Michigan at Crushers Stadium on Friday night.
The Rockets (30-28) took the lead for good with a three-run first inning and expanded their advantage to 6-1 with single runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings. Toledo won an elimination game in its fifth-straight MAC Tournament appearance, its sixth elimination-game win since 2017. Toledo has also won multiple games in the tournament for the second-consecutive season.
Toledo has also won 30 games in a season for the second time under Rob Reinstetle, having reached 33 victories in 2022.
The Rockets will move on to play No. 3 seed Ball State in another elimination contest on Saturday, May 24. First pitch will be at 10:00 a.m. on ESPN+.
How It Happened
- After a Kaleb Herbert RBI single, Caden Konczak launched a two-run home run to right field for a 2-0 Toledo lead in the first. Luke Walton then singled with two outs in the inning to bring home another run.
- An RBI single put Eastern Michigan on the board in the fourth.
- Cole Cahill produced a two-out single in the fifth to restore a three-run lead at 4-1.
- After the Eagles loaded the bases with no outs in the sixth, Braden Curry struck out the next three batters to keep the lead at 4-1.
- The Rockets loaded the bases in the bottom of the sixth, leading to a Troy Sudbrook sacrifice fly. In the seventh, Luke Leto launched a home run off the scoreboard for a 6-1 advantage.
