Depth and Dominance on Display During Day Two of MAC Outdoor Championships

ATHENS, Ohio – Day Two of the 2025 Mid-American Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships saw more titles earned and records broken as competition heated up at Goldsberry Track on the campus of Ohio University.
 
On the women’s side, Kent State leads with 48 points, closely followed by Bowling Green (44) and Miami (42). Western Michigan (40) and Akron (33) round out the top five.

In the men’s standings, Akron holds a commanding lead with 83 points, with Kent State (58) and Eastern Michigan (41) battling for second. Buffalo (39) and Miami (26) complete the current top five.

In the field events, Akron’s Owen Wendl dominated the men’s shot put, claiming the MAC crown with a throw of 18.35m, adding to the Zips’ strong showing through the first two days. In the men’s long jump, Kent State’s Amare Hall soared to gold with a leap of 7.72m, while Western Michigan’s Sandra Ferrari secured the women’s long jump title behind a mark of 6.29m.

In the multis, Ball State’s Kenli Nettles showcased her elite versatility, winning the heptathlon with a total of 5,655 points. On the men’s side, Kent State’s Ayden Bath claimed the decathlon title after compiling an impressive 7,296 points across the grueling two-day event.

Bowling Green’s Trista Fintel made it a sweep in the throws, adding a shot put title (16.38m) to her hammer throw victory from Day One, becoming one of the meet’s standout performers.

On the track, Akron’s Bismack Kipchirchir took control of the men’s 3000-meter steeplechase, finishing in 8:45.34 to win the title. The night ended on a historic note as Central Michigan’s Emily Paupore broke the MAC Championship record in the women’s 3000-meter steeplechase, clocking in at 9:57.18 to take home the gold in commanding fashion.

With just one day remaining, team races and individual legacies are still taking shape in Athens. The 2025 MAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships wrap up Saturday at Goldsberry Track.
