Parks, Chevrier Pedal No. 1 RedHawks Back to Championship

AKRON, Ohio – On Friday afternoon No. 1 Miami University shut out No. 4 Ball State University 8-0 in a 5 inning no-hitter courtesy of Léa Chevrier. The RedHawks improve to 33-24 (20-7 MAC) and Ball State finishes their season 33-18 (17-10 MAC).

Chloe Parks got it started for the 'Hawks in the bottom of the first on a two-run home run that also scored Kaylee Oh to give Miami a 2-0 lead.

Danitza Hernandez got in on the homer action in the bottom of the second, hitting one deep over center to also score Jenna Golembiewski and double the RedHawk lead to 4-0.

In the bottom of the fourth, Kaylee Oh was walked with the bases loaded, allowing Erin Pinter to cross home and extend the lead to 5-0.

Parks followed that up with her second triple of the day, sending Hernandez, Oh, and Shelby Kunkel across home to up the lead to 8-0.

The RedHawks held this lead to take the win 8-0 in five innings.

Chevrier pitched her first collegiate no-hitter in five innings. She struck out two. Parks went 2-for-3 at the plate and notched five RBI with a homer and a triple.

Hernandez went 2-for-2 at the plate with a homer. Six RedHawks scored runs, five had hits, and three had RBI. The RedHawks had four extra-base hits.

The RedHawks head to the MAC Tournament Championship game tomorrow at 1 p.m. in Akron, Ohio against No. 2 Ohio University.
