Buffalo 6, Northern Illinois 1
DEKALB, IL – The University at Buffalo men's tennis team (14-5, 7-1 MAC) defeated Northern Illinois 6-1 on Thursday afternoon. With the win, the Bulls clinched a spot in the 2025 Mid-American Conference Tournament, hosted by Western Michigan on April 19-20.
The Bulls got off to a great start by winning the doubles point as
Emiliano Jorquera and
Faiz Nasyam cruised to a 6-1 victory at third singles and
Theodoros Mitsakos and
Michael Malkin won 6-4 at second doubles to give the Bulls a 1-0 lead in the match.
Senior
Daniils Snaiders put UB up 2-0 as he did not drop a game in a 6-0, 6-0 victory at fourth singles. Fellow senior
Clement Mainguy followed with a straight sets win at the third position, 6-3, 6-2 and Mitsakos clinched the match for UB with a 6-3, 6-1 victory at first singles. Nasyam added to the UB lead as he overcame a dropped first set to win 3-6, 7-6, 10-8 at fifth singles and Jorquera capped the day with a hard-fought 7-6, 7-5 victory at the sixth position.

UIC 4, Toledo 3
CHICAGO – UIC men's tennis (
14-4, MAC 5-2) battled to a thrilling 4-3 victory over Toledo, securing key wins in doubles and singles to clinch the match.
The Flames set the tone early by taking the doubles point. At the No. 2 spot, Artem Alekseychuk and Milos Mikovic delivered a dominant 6-0 victory over Matias Olivero and Charlie Snow. Simon Knezevic and Mihailo Savic followed up with a hard-fought 7-5 win at No. 3 doubles against Lucas Britez and Joshua Mackey. Despite a setback at No. 1 doubles, UIC carried a 1-0 lead into singles play.
In singles, Eldin Nokic was dominant at the No. 2 spot, securing a straight-set 6-1, 6-3 victory over Hanamichi Carvajal. Mihailo Savic built on that momentum at No. 4, powering through for a 6-2, 6-3 win. Simon Knezevic continued his strong form with a commanding 6-4, 6-0 victory at No. 5 singles, helping the Flames lock in the team win.
With this win, the Flames will look to carry their momentum into upcoming conference play.
