TOLEDO, OH – The University at Buffalo women's tennis team rallied to upset top seed Miami (OH) 4-3 in the semifinals of the Mid-American Conference Tournament at the UT Varsity Tennis Courts on Thursday afternoon. With the win, the Bulls advance to the championship match for the first time since 2018.
Trailing 1-0 after the doubles point, the Bulls took four of the first six sets to get them back in the match. Freshman
Maria Glowacka got the Bulls on the board with a 7-5, 6-2 win at third singles before
Julia Laspro gave UB their first lead of the match with a 7-5, 6-3 victory at the fourth position.
Later, freshman
Blanca Berges overcame a dropped first set to win 2-6, 6-4, 6-1 at six singles to extend the UB lead, but the RedHawks answered with wins at fifth and first singles to even the score at three and send the contest to the deciding match at third singles, where senior
Jagmeet Kaur stepped up in a big way, battling to a hard-fought 6-3, 5-7, 7-6 victory to clinch the win.
