Libler, Miller Take Home Week 11 Softball Honors

Brynn Libler extended her hitting streak to 12 games and posted a .556/.600/.833 slash to lead Kent State at the plate over 5 games last week. Libler recorded 3 multi-hit games, including a 4-for-4 performance in the second game of Wednesday’s doubleheader against Buffalo. She had big hits in both of the Golden Flashes’ victories, starting with a 2-run homer to take the lead for good in the bottom of the fifth inning of Game 1 against the Bulls. In the weekend finale against NIU, Libler had a RBI single and scored during a 7-run bottom of the sixth.

Redshirt junior Skipp Miller was a force in the circle, making appearing in four games while making three starts. She went 2-0 with a save while throwing 19.0 innings and recording a 0.37 ERA. She allowed one earned run on 19 hits, walked two and struck out 24. In the opening game of the week against BG, Miller pitched seven innings, allowing one run, none earned, on six hits, while walking two and striking out seven in the 10-1 win. Miller was back in the circle later in the day in game two, where she earned the save in the 5-4 come-from-behind victory, pitching one inning and recording one strikeout. Miller got the start in the first game of the series against Miami, pitching seven innings of shutout softball, while not allowing a run on five hits and striking out 10 in the 2-0 victory. Miller got the start in the final game of the series, tossing 4.0 innings, while allowing two runs, one earned, on eight hits, did not walk a batter and struck out six in the 7-6 win.
