MAC Announces Week 10 Baseball Honors

MAC Baseball Player of the Week
Gunner Antillon, Bowling Green

Gunner Antillon was red hot at the plate for the Falcons this week, batting .700 with only one strikeout. Antillon led the Falcons with 14 hits and 12 RBI, totaling 25 bases over four games to notch a 1.250 slugging percentage. 

Antillon belted his first two home runs of the season and added five doubles over the course of the week while scoring six times. Antillon tallied at least three hits in all four of BGSU's games this week while scoring himself and logging at least RBI in each contest as well. He started the week with four hits against Purdue Fort Wayne, including a home run and two doubles to result in four RBI and a run scored. He followed it up against Ball State in game one with another home run and another pair of doubles, adding an RBI and two runs scored. He lifted those numbers in game two to a season-high five RBI and two runs scored, despite only one double. He ended his weekend with another three hits, two RBI and run scored while drawing two walks.

MAC Baseball Co-Pitcher of the Week
Cooper Katskee, Miami

Cooper Katskee took the mound in the first inning for the RedHawks on Thursday and never left, pitching a complete game with 115 pitches. In nine full innings of work, he held the Chippewas to just one run and five hits while striking out five batters. He walked just one batter and was credited for the RedHawks’ 4-1 win.

Tyler Kapa, Eastern Michigan

Eastern Michigan senior right-handed starter Tyler Kapa was a force on the mound in the Eagles’ 9-7 series-clinching victory over the Albany Great Danes, April 19. The Waterford, Mich. native got the start and went six innings, allowing just one hit (one single) and zero runs, while striking out a MAC single-game high 11 batters and walking just two. Kapa held batters to a mere .053 average while posting a 0.50 WHIP. Additionally, Kapa’s strikeout total marked NCAA Division I career high. He did not allow a run for the first time in his Division I career, tied a Division I career long outing with six innings pitched, and allowed a Division I career-low one hit.
