KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- As the old adage goes, "third time's the charm." After falling to UIC twice during the regular season, the Western Michigan men's tennis got its revenge in the Mid-American Conference Semifinals, defeating the Flames 4-1, outdoors at Sorensen Courts on Saturday.

DOUBLES
A big key to the victory was WMU securing the doubles point. Senior Anton Arzhankin and freshman Oscar Corwin picked up a 6-2 win to start, beating Mihailo Savic and Simon KNezevic at No. 3. Senior Brogan Pierce and sophomore Drew Evans then collected the point after a 6-4 win over Eldin Nokic and Pedro Franca.

SINGLES
Pierce pushed WMU's lead to 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Savic at No. 4. Arzhankin got the Broncos within match point after a 6-3, 6-0 win over Artem Alekseychuck. UIC got on the board with Emil Dapcevic defeating Matej Kajzer at No. 6 6-3, 1-6, 6-0. But just moments later, Corwin won the match for the Broncos with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 win over Milos Mikovic.
