Falcons' Martin, Krafcik Take Home Week 7 Softball Honors

MAC Softball Player of the Week
Addie Martin, Redshirt Freshman, Shortstop, Bowling Green
Dover, Ohio (Dover)
Addie Martin hit .579 with a 1.211 slugging pct. as Bowling Green went 4-1 last week. The Falcons (10-18, 4-2 MAC) have topped the overall and conference win totals for all of last season. Martin went 11-of-19 with eight runs scored and five extra-base hits in BG's five games. She began her week by going 4-for-4 with two homers in a win over Green Bay. Martin hit a homer in each of her first two plate appearances at Meserve Field, BG's home field. She scored three runs and had three RBI in that win. Martin then had two hits, including a triple, in the second game of the DH, meaning that she began her home career by going 6-for-6 with 14 total bases. Then, Martin went 2-for-3 with a double, another homer, two runs scored and two RBI in a run-rule win over Kent State. She followed that up with a 2-for-4 performance, stealing two bases and scoring twice, in the nightcap of that twinbill. Then, Martin had another hit and scored a run in BG's victory in the final game of the series, clinching the Falcons' first three-game series sweep in MAC play in over three years (since April 1-2, 2022). Martin has become just the second player in school history with at least 10 homers and 10 stolen bases in a season.

MAC Softball Pitcher of the Week
Mackenzie Krafcik, Junior, RHP, Bowling Green
Aurora, Ohio (Aurora)
Junior Mackenzie Krafcik had a 3-0 record and a 1.19 ERA last week, as Bowling Green went 4-1. Krafcik pitched in four of BGSU’s five games, with the Falcons winning all four. She threw a total of 17 2/3 innings on the week, including BGSU’s first two complete games of the season. Krafcik fired a complete game in the Falcons’ home opener, allowing just one run and five hits in a 6-1 victory over Green Bay. Then, she threw another complete game three days later, allowing zero earned runs in a six-inning victory over Kent State. Krafcik struck out three and did not walk a batter in that win. She pitched 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief in the second game of the day, picking up the win when BGSU rallied for four runs in the seventh inning to win, 7-6. Then, Krafcik pitched the first 3 1/3 innings of the final game of the KSU series, allowing two earned runs and leaving the game with her team holding a lead they would not relinquish. The Kent State series marked the first time the Falcons had swept a three-game MAC series in over three years (since April 1-2, 2022). BGSU is 4-2 in the MAC this season, after going 3-23 in conference play last season.
