MAC Announces 2025 Gymnastics Specialty Awards

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference announced the All-MAC Teams and Specialty Award selections for the 2025 gymnastics season today. All awards were voted on by the league's seven head coaches, with coaches unable to vote for their own student-athletes.

It was announced in the post-meet awards ceremony that head coach Brice Biggin earned 2025 MAC Coach of the Year honors. It marks the 12th time the tenured Kent State head coach has received the honor in his 34-year career at Kent State. Biggin led the Flashes to a 6-0 finish in the MAC this season.

Central Michigan's Luciana Alvarado-Reid ranked first in the MAC in the all-around with a National Qualifying Score (NQS) of 39.230. The Cartago, Costa Rica junior competed in all 11 meets and earned nine all-around titles, which brings her career total to 18.

In addition to her second straight bars title, Ball State sophomore Ashley Szymanski was also named the MAC Specialist of the Year after finishing the regular season with a league-high bars NQS of 9.875 to go along with the seventh-best beam NQS at 9.810. She kept the award in Muncie for the fourth straight season, following in the footsteps of Pfister who won the honor in each of the past three seasons.

Eastern Michigan's Raisa Boris took home the 2025 MAC Senior Gymnast of the Year award in addition to her First Team All-MAC honors. Marking just the eighth different Eagle to earn a First Team nod in program history, Boris took the third overall spot among all all-arounders in the MAC with a NQS of 39.075. Although Boris has shown her all-around ability, she earned the accolade for her beam performances, in which she tops the MAC with a 9.850 NQS. A six-time MAC Gymnast of the Week in her career, Boris leads the Green and White posting five all-around victories in her senior season.

Western Michigan gymnast Reilan Garvey was named the Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year as the Broncos finished tied for third place at the 2025 MAC Gymnastics Championship at Central Michigan on Saturday. Garvey becomes the first Bronco to win the award since Amelia Mohler did so in 2020.
