Flashes Clinch Outright Regular Season Crown with Perfect Conference Record

KENT, Ohio –
 The Kent State gymnastics team hosted Ball State in their final home meet and final MAC meet of 2025 on Sunday afternoon. The Flashes posted a season-high 196.400 to best the Cardinals' 195.875.

Sunday's win clinches an outright MAC regular season championship for Kent State, the program's third in four years, and an undefeated record at the MAC Center in 2025. Additionally, the Flashes snap a four-meet win streak by Ball State in the series, earning their first win over the Cardinals since 2022.

ROTATION 1 – VAULT
The Flashes were led in the opening rotation by Charlie Behner, who earned second in the event with a 9.850 to match her season high. Nastia Rudnitskaya recorded Kent State's second-best score in the event with a 9.800 to set a new season high.

ROTATION 2 – BARS
Behner also led Kent State in their second rotation on bars, posting a 9.850 to finish tied for first in the event. Brynne Tsipis matched Behner's score with a 9.850 of her own to split the event title. Rudnitskaya followed closely with a 9.825 as the Flashes earned a 49.025 to eclipse the 49.000 mark on bars for the third meet in a row.

ROTATION 3 – BEAM
The Flashes set a new season-high on beam with a 49.125 team score in rotation three. Kent State did so through Heidi Schultz, who earned a 9.925 to win the event and match the team's highest individual score across any event this season. Ashley Morgan finished second in the event, setting a new career-high with a 9.850.

ROTATION 4 – FLOOR
Kent State's final rotation on the floor played a huge role in earning the team's highest overall score this season. They recorded a 49.375 on the floor to set a new high team score across all events this season. All six Flashes in the rotation earned scores of 9.825 or better in what was an electric final rotation. Alyssa Guns tallied her fifth score of 9.900 or better this season with a 9.900 to lead the Flashes and win the event. Three Flashes tied for second place as Behner, Morgan, and Gabby Riley all earned a 9.875 in the event, matching or eclipsing a career-high for all three.

The Flashes hit the road for their final non-conference meet of the season Sunday, March 16, at Ohio State in a tri-meet which features the Buckeyes, Pitt, and West Virginia. The meet is set to begin at 2 p.m. in Columbus.

 The Huskies came from behind in the final rotation to take down Bowling Green in the Huskies 2025 home finale inside the NIU Convocation Center on Sunday.

NIU trailed BGSU 146.050 to 145.525 heading into the final rotation. NIU scored a 48.750 on floor while the Falcons posted a 48.200 on beam as the Huskies squeaked past Bowling Green 194.275-194.250.

Three Huskies posted event wins. Katie Ferguson (Bloomington, Ind./Bloomington) won the bars with a 9.800, Ellery Werner (Rhinelander, Wis./Rhinelander) won on beam with a 9.850 and Mikayla Brown (Suwanee, Ga/Peachtree Ridge) scored a 9.800 to win on floor.

NIU opened the meet on vault where Audrey Brenner (Fon du Lac, Wis./Fon du Lac) led the way for the huskies on the vault with a 9.825 and earned third place. Kiera O'Shea (Norridge, Ill./Ridgewood) scored a 9,800 while Dawsyn Sallee (Versailles, Ky./Woodford County) added a
9.7250 and Jocelyn Harbeck scored 9.700. The Huskies earned a 48.725 as a team on the vault.

The Huskies moved to bars in the second rotation. Ferguson led the Huskies on Bars with a 9.800 to earn the win in the dual. Talia Kraus (Fairport, N.Y./Southern Connecticut State) and Aliyah Kelly (Manteno, Ill./Manteno) both earned scores of 9.750 on bars to tie for second place as the Huskies swept the podium on bars. NIU posted a 48.475 on bars as a team.

In the third rotation Werner led the way for NIU on beam as she posted a 9.850 to win the event. Kelly earned a 9.800 which was good for second place. Sallee added a 9.775 as the Huskies scored a 48.325 on the event.

NIU closed out the meet on floor and were led by the event winner Brown with a 9.800. NIU also saw strong scores from Isabella Ross with a 9.775 to earn third place and Dawsyn Sallee with a 9.750.

The Huskies will head to Central Michigan at 5 p.m. on Friday, March 14 before closing out the regular season at Illinois on Sunday, March 16. The Huskies will head to Mount Pleasant, Mich. for the second time in as many weeks on Sunday, March 22 to compete in the Mid-American Conference Championships.
