Bowling Green Claims First MAC Women's Indoor Track & Field Title Since 1999

YPSILANTI, Mich. -- For the first time since 1999, Bowling Green has claimed the MAC Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championship, securing just the second title in program history. The Falcons put together a dominant team performance at Eastern Michigan’s Bowen Field House, highlighted by head coach Lou Snelling earning MAC Coach of the Year honors and Reese Reaman being named Freshman Track Performer of the Year.

Several standout individual performances defined the championship, with Toledo’s Laura Nicholson stealing the show. Nicholson was named the MAC Most Valuable Performer after capturing three titles in a single day, winning the mile (4:43.58), 800m (2:06.75), and 3000m (9:29.38). Her dominance helped lead the Rockets to a strong finish in the team standings.

In the field events, Kent State’s Aliesha Shaw powered her way to victory in the shot put with a throw of 15.61m, while Bowling Green’s Bianca Staples gave the Falcons a key win in the triple jump, landing at 12.59m. In the high jump, Buffalo’s Zahra Amos defended her title, clearing 1.82m to win her second straight championship.

The sprints and hurdles provided thrilling finishes, as Akron’s Rukia Omulisia took home the 60m hurdles title with a time of 8.38, and Miami’s Abby Suszek made history in the 400m, setting a MAC Championship Record with a winning time of 53.49. Akron’s Joy Nwokike claimed the 60m title in 7.38, while Eastern Michigan’s Saraiah Walkes successfully defended her 200m championship, clocking 23.74.
