Szoke, Padavic Set Meet Records; Zips Keep the Lead on Day Three of MAC Swimming & Diving Championships

UFFALO, NY – Four more Alumni Arena Natatorium pool records were set on Friday during the third day of the MAC Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships. Akron collected a pair of medals to remain in first place with 504 points. The Zips are proceeded by Ohio (424.5 pts.), and Miami (376 pts.) to round out the top three.

Akron’s Abby Daniel clinched her third consecutive gold medal in the 100 butterfly, and set a pool record 51.67 to open Friday evening’s final events.

Ohio’s Gabby McKee earned a gold medal in the 400 IM after touching 4:16.17.

After setting a pool record in the time trial of the 200 freestyle, Ohio’s Zita Szoke kicked it up and swam a meet record of 1:44.74 to take her second individual gold of the weekend.

The 100 breaststroke went to another Bobcat, Casadie DiBetta who broke 59.81 to claim her first gold medal of the meet and pool record.

Miami’s Madeline Padavic set the conference record in the 100 backstroke earlier this month, and tonight swam a 51.52 to win the gold medal, set a pool record, and set a new meet record.

Friday’s events culminated with the 200 freestyle relay, where the Zips saw Daniel, Adriana Szwabinska, Aislinn Holder, and Hannah Trainer swim a pool record 1:28.62 for gold.
