NEW ORLEANS – MACtion is hitting the big stage this weekend at Super Bowl LIX between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans.
A total of eight former Mid-American Conference student-athletes are on the rosters of the Chiefs and Eagles, five of which will be active on Sunday.
Toledo leads the MAC with three former student-athletes represented, while Ball State and Western Michigan have two each. Central Michigan is represented by one former student-athlete.
Kansas City will rely on Kareem Hunt (Toledo) and Carson Steele (Ball State) out of the backfield, while Mike Caliendo (Western Michigan) will see time on the Chiefs’ offensive line after appearing in 17 games (three starts) this season. Mike Danna (Central Michigan) is an anchor on Kansas City's defensive line, tallying 18 tackles with 3.5 sacks and two forced fumbles this season.
Quinyon Mitchell (Toledo) produced an outstanding rookie season at cornerback for the Eagles, finishing second in the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year voting.
Mitchell became the 18th player from the conference to be chosen in the first round and the highest MAC pick since 2017 after Philadelphia took the Toledo alum with the 22nd overall pick of the 2024 draft last April.
Kickoff from is slated for 6:30 p.m. ET from inside the Caesars Superdome. The game will be broadcast on Fox.
