Ypsilanti, Mich. -- Eastern Michigan will host the Mid-American Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships at Bowen Field House, on the campus of Eastern Michigan University, Friday-Saturday, Feb. 28-March 1. The meet will begin at 10 a.m. both days.
EMU will welcome teams from the University of Akron (M/W), Ball State University (W), Bowling Green State University (W), the University at Buffalo (M/W), Central Michigan University (W), Kent State University (M/W), Miami University (M/W), Northern Illinois University (W), Ohio University (W), the University of Toledo (W), and Western Michigan University (W) to Ypsilanti.
Last year, the Kent State men's team emerged victorious, clinching their first indoor title since 2009 with a total of 155 points. Standout performances included Ayden Bath, who amassed 20 points across multiple events, and individual titles secured by Alexandre Malanda in the triple jump and Alex Shields in the 60m hurdles.
On the women's side, Eastern Michigan dominated the competition, amassing 144.5 points to secure the team title. They were followed by Kent State with 85.5 points and Ball State with 61.5 points. In total, EMU captured eight event titles with Paige Marchant winning the 800m, mile, and 3,000m run to lead the charge. The team of Saraiah Walkes, Tijana Japundzic, Noriyah Johnson, and Josaphine Oloye won the 4x400m relay after Walkes won the 60m and 200m events. Field event titles were won by Kyra Buffen in the triple jump and Miranda Cadwell in the weight throw.
