Women's Swimming & Diving

A Record-Setting Day One at the 2025 Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships; Akron Sits in First Place

BUFFALO, NY – The Akron Zips sits atop the team standings with 74 points following the opening night of the 2025 MAC Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships in Buffalo’s Alumni Arena and Natatorium.

Ohio’s 200 Medley Relay team of Allie Schrank, Casadie DiBetta, Zita Szoke, and Caroline Dunigan took the gold with a program record time of 1:36.98. The Bobcat’s time also breaks the Alumni Arena Natatorium record, which was set by Akron (1:37.91) in 2020. Akron followed in second place with a time of 1:37.13.
 
The Zips took gold in the 800 Freestyle Relay with a time of 7:10.41 with the help of Dominika Kossakowska, Helena Lalkovic, Rebecca Reid, and Maddy Gatrall. Buffalo took silver in the relay with a touch-time of 7:13.42.

Miami finished third in both races on Wednesday, with a 200 medley relay time of 1:38.52 followed by a 7:18.63 time in the 800 freestyle relay. The RedHawks sit third overall with 64 team points.

 
The host of this year’s championship, Buffalo sits in fourth place on Wednesday evening with 62 points. Ball State set a program record in the 200 medley relay (1:39.62) and is currently in fifth place, followed by Eastern Michigan (52 pts.), Toledo (50 pts.), and Bowling Green (46 pts.) to round out the team standings.
 
Day Two of the 2025 MAC Women’s Swimming & Diving Championship continues Thursday morning with prelims beginning at 10:00 AM (EST) with the finals to follow at 6:00 PM (EST). On deck for Thursday’s competition are the 500 freestyle, 200 IM, 50 freestyle, 1-meter diving, and 400 medley relay.
