Koker, Kuntz Named Scholar Athletes of the Week

The Scholar Athlete of the Week Award is presented to a MAC male and/or female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during that week's competition. An institution can nominate up to one male and one female student-athlete per week in any of that current season's sports. The winners are selected by a representative of the MAC's Faculty Athletics Representatives (FARs).

Individual: 3-0 in match play | Team: Champions (3-0)
Playing in Ball State's No. 2 lineup slot, Kuntz was the most dominant player for the Cardinals, who won their third consecutive match-play title at The Match Play 2025 at Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club. Kuntz won all three matches without ever playing the final two holes of any match. He won his three matches by a combined 14 holes, and he needed only 43 out of 54 holes to dispatch his three opponents. He shot birdie or better on 13 holes. He shot par or better on 37 of 43 holes over the three-round tournament. Kuntz and the Cardinals beat Evansville in an opening-round match, then Dayton in a semifinal match, then top-seeded Richmond in the championship match.

Week’s Achievements (detailed description of week’s events): Chelby Koker led all players Saturday with 20 points, seven rebounds and five assists with zero turnovers in NIU's 60-51 win at Western Michigan, the Huskies' third win in a row. Koker was 9-for-15 from the field and 2-for-5 from the three-point arc. She scored eight of NIU's 12 points in the first quarter, and also scored eight straight points in a 14-2 fourth quarter run that put the game away. Koker moved into fifth all-time at NIU in career scoring with 1,813 points.
