BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's tennis team rallied to a 4-3 win over Duquesne on Friday afternoon at Miller Tennis Center.
The Bulls took the doubles point as
Jagmeet Kaur and
Marta Giglio won 6-2 at the second position and
Esmee Andresen and
Maria Glowacka earned a hard-fought 7-5 win at first doubles.
Glowacka continued her stellar play in singles action as she cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 win at fourth singles. After the Dukes won three straight matches at the top of the lineup to take a 3-2 lead,
Liv Roestel earned a big point at fifth singles with a 7-5, 6-4 win to tie the match, and then fellow freshman
Blanca Berges earned the clinching point for UB with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at the sixth position.
Up next, Buffalo returns to action on Saturday as they take on Niagara and IUP in a doubleheader at Miller Tennis Center starting at 12:30 pm.

MADISON, Wis. – The Northern Illinois University women's tennis team split a pair of matches in Wisconsin Friday with a 4-0 win over Milwaukee in the first match of the day before falling to Wisconsin, 6-1, in the nightcap.
NIU head coach
Eric Burns was pleased with the Huskies' play in both matches as NIU battled Wisconsin, especially at the bottom half of the singles line-up and at No. 3 doubles. Freshman
Lucia Yecora accounted for the Huskies' point with a 5-7, 6-4, 1-0 (10-3) win over the Badgers' Ellison Reynoldson at No. 4 singles. At No. 5 singles, senior
Reagan Welch fell 10-5 in the tiebreaker after winning the second set 7-5.
In doubles, Welch and
Jenna Horne were leading their opponents at No. 3 doubles 5-3 when Wisconsin clinched the doubles point with 6-2 wins at the first two positions.
In the morning match, the Huskies dispatched Milwaukee by first, sweeping all three doubles matches. Horne did not surrender a game at No. 6 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win,
Nataly Ninova recorded the third point at No. 3 singles, winning 6-2, 6-0, and Welch clinched the victory by defeating the Panthers' Elisa Rubio 6-1, 6-4.
NIU is now 5-2 on the season and next takes on Western Illinois at home on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025, beginning at 10 a.m. in the Nelson Tennis Center at Chick Evans Field House.
Toledo 6, Cleveland State 1
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Toledo women's tennis team recorded a 6-1 victory over Cleveland State at Twos Athletic Club on Friday afternoon. Junior
Audrey Moutama clinched the Rockets win with a three-set tiebreaker on the No. 1 singles court.
Toledo has now extended their home winning streak to 16 consecutive matches. The winning streak also began with a 6-1 victory over Cleveland State on Jan. 22, 2023.
The Rockets (2-0) fell in doubles play, dropping two of three courts.
Jone Ibanez and
Audrey Moutama fell on the No. 2 court, 6-3, while
Jacklynka Scholten and
Neha Guru dropped the No. 1 court, 6-2. Despite the doubles point being claimed by Cleveland State, Gabby Rondon and
Annika Munson tallied a win on the No. 3 court, 6-4.
In singles play, freshman
Neha Guru recorded a straight-set victory 6-4, 6-3 on the No. 4 court to tie the match, 1-1. Freshman
Jacklynka Scholten tallied a 6-2, 6-4 win on the No. 3 court to give Toledo the lead, 2-1. Sophomore
Jone Ibanez grabbed a three-set win on the No. 5 court, 6-1, 4-6, 7-5, giving the Rockets a 3-1 lead.
Moutama's three-set tiebreaker on the No. 1 singles court clinched the victory for Toledo. Moutama took down Cleveland State's Vicario 7-5, 5-7, 7-6 (7-3). Following Moutama's clinching win, freshman
Annika Munson grabbed a straight-set win on the No. 6 court, 6-3, 6-1. Sophomore
Gaby Rondon tallied a three-set victory, 5-7, 7-5, 6-3, on the No. 2 singles court to clinch the sweep of the singles courts for the Rockets.
Toledo will play its first road matches of the dual season with a trip to Youngstown State on Saturday, Feb. 8 at 1:00 p.m. and concludes the weekend at Duquesne on Sunday, Feb. 9 at 1:00 p.m.
Bowling Green 5, Holy Cross (IN) 2
ERRYSBURG, Ohio – The Bowling Green Falcons snag a 5-2 victory over Holy Cross College (Ind.) at the Perrysburg Tennis Center on Friday afternoon.
The Falcons started off winning the doubles point, taking No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. Tied 1-1,
Leticia Fonseca and
Lucia Gaio took home the doubles point with a 6-4 win.
BGSU took singles No. 1, No. 3, No. 4 and No. 6 singles.
Isabella Baker clinched the win at No. 3 singles (6-4, 6-1).
Bowling Green returns to action on Sunday with a match at Findlay. The contest will start at 3 p.m.
