Cardinals, Rockets Named 2025 Fall Tennis Champions!

MAC Doubles and Individual Champions receive an automatic bid into the 2025 ITA Conference Masters Tournament.

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Mid-American Conference crowned Ball State as the Doubles Champion and Toledo as the Individual Champion of the 2025 Fall Individual Tennis Championship on Sunday afternoon. These are the first fall championship titles for the Cardinals and Rockets.

Isabel Tanjuatco and Sarah Shahbaz from Ball State won the doubles title by an 8-3 final score. This is the duo’s third-straight fall title, and they remain undefeated in doubles play with an 11-0 overall mark.

JJ Scholten outplayed her teammate, Izzy Barretto, for the 2025 singles champion title by a final score of 6-1, 6-1 on Sunday afternoon. Scholten, who was knocked out of last year’s fall tournament in the semifinals round, will be the first to represent the Rockets at the prestigious tournament.

For winning their respective titles, all three student-athletes receive an automatic bid into the main draw of the ITA Conference Master’s Tournament on Nov. 6-9 in San Diego, Calif.
