Oxford, Ohio  -- Miami Field Hockey earned its 500th program win Monday with a 3-2 victory over Indiana. Freshman Malena Sabez scored the game-winner with less than three minutes remaining to lift the RedHawks to 9-4 on the season.

After a scoreless first half, Justina Intzes put Miami ahead early in the third quarter off a pass from Bet Gifra. Indiana quickly tied it, but Berta Mata regained the lead for the RedHawks with her fifth goal of the year. The Hoosiers evened the score again in the final seconds of the period before Miami’s relentless pressure in the fourth paid off. Following a series of penalty corners, Sabez converted on an insert from Kylie Coughlin and a setup by Mata to secure the milestone win.

The RedHawks will compete in two more home matches this week, facing the Central Michigan Chippewas this Friday, Oct. 17 at 1 p.m. and the Ball State Cardinals this Sunday, Oct. 19 at 1 p.m.
