Toledo's Wilson, Nicholson Tabbed Scholar Athletes of the Week

The Scholar Athlete of the Week Award is presented to a MAC male and/or female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during that week's competition. An institution can nominate up to one male and one female student-athlete per week in any of that current season's sports. The winners are selected by a representative of the MAC's Faculty Athletics Representatives (FARs).

Week’s Achievements (detailed description of week’s events): Sophomore guard Sonny Wilson averaged a team-high 18.5 ppg and shot a team-best 65.2% from the field in Toledo’s two games last week. He also averaged 4.0 rpg and 3.5 apg and was a perfect 6-of-6 from the free-throw line. Wilson tied for the team scoring lead in each contest, tallying 19 points vs. Kent State and 18 points at Bowling Green. In the Rockets’ 84-71 win over the Falcons, Wilson was 7-of-9 from the field and registered five rebounds and five assists while committing just one turnover in 36 minutes.

Week’s Achievements (detailed description of week’s events): 
Laura Nicholson placed first in the mile run at the Notre Dame Invitational on Saturday with a final time of 4:35.61. Nicholson's time is the third-fastest time in school history in the mile run and currently ranks first in the Mid-American Conference and 20th among Division I. Nicholson also competed in the 800m event, crossing the line at 2:07.99, to take second in the event and tally the second-best time in the event in program history. Nicholson's time in the 800m is the second-best time in program history.
