Toledo Claims 4-3 Victory Over Butler
TOLEDO, Ohio – Junior
Matias Olivero clinched the win for the Toledo men's tennis team for the second consecutive match on Sunday as the Rockets defeated Butler, 4-3, at Shadow Valley Tennis Club. Sunday's win marks the second-straight come-from-behind win for the Rockets this weekend and moves their overall home record to 2-0.
Butler (2-1) claimed the doubles victory to take the early lead, as the Bulldogs earned wins on the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles courts. In singles play, Butler took the No. 4 singles court to extend its lead to 2-0.
Toledo (2-1) responded by claiming four of the remaining five singles points to take the match. After
Poonthong Komolpisut won the No. 1 singles court in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3,
Hanamichi Carvajal recorded a 6-4, 6-3 victory on the No. 2 singles court to tie the match, 2-2.
Junior
Lucas Britez put the Rockets ahead 3-2 with a win over Lama, 6-3, 6-1, on the No. 6 singles court. Olivero followed behind with his straight-set victory on the No. 5 court to secure the match win for the Rockets by claiming the fourth point. After Toledo clinched the win, Butler's Baldi won on the No. 3 court to set the final score at 4-3.
Toledo will head to Indiana (2-0) on Sunday, Feb. 2. First serve is set for 4:00 p.m. at the IU Tennis Center.
