Savannah de Bock – Sophomore, Eastern Michigan

WOLCOTT, Colo. (EMUEagles.com) –
Several records were broken, both individually and as a team, as the Eastern Michigan University women's golf team completed the three-day Golfweek Red Sky Classic in Wolcott, Colo., Wednesday, Sept. 25, by placing 12th overall as team and sophomore Savannah de Bock winning the individual title. The Eagles, playing on the par-72, 6,328-yard Fazio Course at the Red Sky Ranch and Golf Club, fired a school-record 285 on the final day to move up to 12th while de Bock used a record 65 in the second round to set herself up for the win at 12-under 204, claiming medalist honors by three strokes.

As a team, Eastern shot 302 in the opening round to sit 15th overall before sliding down to 16th after shooting 306 in round two. But the Eagles came together as a team and shot a final round 285 - the fourth-lowest of the day - to move up to 12th place, the team's best finish in two tournaments in 2024. On a historical level, the 893 total score ranks as the eighth-lowest in program history and just the 17th time the program has fired 899 or lower.

Individually, de Bock (Ecaussinnes-d'enghien, Belgium/Institut de l'Enfant-Jésus-Lycée/Georgia) stole the show as she carded a school-record 204 (70-65-69) to finish at 12-under to win the title by three strokes. Not only did she break the record for a three-round tournament score, but she also carded a school-record 65 in round two, bettering the previous mark of 66 by Kelsey Murphy in 2015. Three other Eagles competed in the event, including Mariana Vega (Barranquilla, Columbia/Colegio Karl C. Parrish), who was tied for 40th at 6-over, 222 (75-76-71), with her third-round score marking her first sub-par round as a collegian. Julianna Go (San Juan, Philippines/St. Jude Catholic School/King) was tied for 71st at 16-over, 232 (78-84-70), as she shot two-under on the final day, while Riley Kim (Aldie, Va./Lightridge) was 77th at 19-over, 235 (79-81-75).

As a team, the 285 carded in the third round stands a school record for the lowest team round, surpassing the 286 shots in round three of the Cardinal Classic, Sept. 22, 2015.
Overall, the team's 893 ranks as the eighth-lowest tournament total in program history. It also is only the 17th tournament in program history Eastern has scored 899 or lower.

Savannah de Bock's victory was not only the first of her collegiate career but also stands as just the 24th title won in program history with the last coming Sept. 4-5, 2022, at the A-Ga-Ming Invitational with Alyssa DiMarcantonio winning at 220. De Bock is the 15th different EMU player to record at least one medalist honor in program history.

Savannah de Bock broke several records as she lowered the standard for single-round and tournament scoring. In round two, she carded a 7-under 65, breaking the record of 66 that was previously held by Kelsey Murphy, who tallied the mark Sept. 22, 2015, at the Cardinal Classic. The low round for de Bock marks her third score of 69-or-lower already this year with the program's career record standing at four total.

Savannah de Bock finished the tournament with a score of 204, marking the second consecutive tournament she carded her lowest career collegiate score (215 last week at the Leadership & Golf Invitational at Chambers Bay, University Place, Wash.). Her 204 is an Eastern program record and supplanted Anna Watson for the top spot after Watson fired a 211 last year at the Shirley Spork Invitational, Oct. 2-3, 2023.

Mariana Vega fired a 1-under 71 on the final day, marking her first round under par as a collegiate golfer. She finished at 6-over 222, which was a seven-shot improvement over her debut last week.

Juliana Go posted a score of 232, which is four strokes better than her debut for the Eagles (236) and five shots off her collegiate best. As a member of King University last year, Go shot 227 at the Bearcat Invitational, March 25-26, 2024, to record her low tournament score.

The Eagles have a two-week break before they return to action at the 2024 Marilynn Smith Sunflower Open, Oct. 7-8, in Lawrence, Kan. The two-day event will be played at the Lawrence Country Club with the University of Kansas playing host to the tournament.

Veronika Kedronova – Sophomore, Kent State
70, 69, 70: 209 (-7)
LUBBOCK, Texas –
The Kent State women's golf team concluded their second tournament of the Fall on Wednesday with the third and final round of the Red Raider Invitational at The Rawls Course. Veronika Kedronova claimed the second individual win of her career over the field of 87 players with a 7-under-par finish. The team fired a 3-over-par 291 to finish the event at 6-over-par and in fourth place out of the field of 16.
Kedronova displayed this week exactly why she earned an NCAA Championship bid and MAC Freshman of the Year honors last season. The sophomore put up a stellar performance this week, including three consecutive rounds of 70 or better, capped off by a 2-under-par 70 in round three to finish at 7-under-par. Unlike last season's Dick McGuire Invitational, where she finished tied for first, Kedronova concludes the Red Raider Invitational alone atop the leaderboard, one stroke ahead of the runners-up.

Kent State also had two freshmen finish the tournament inside the top 20, Gracie Larsen and Isabella Goyette. After firing back-to-back rounds of even-par yesterday, Larsen concluded her week with a third-round 2-over-par 74 to conclude the contest tied for 16th place. Goyette had a consistent week, recording her third consecutive round of one-over-par on Wednesday, finishing the competition at 3-over-par and tied for 20th place.
The final countable score toward the Flashes team total in round three came from Aryn Matthews. The freshman recorded a 2-over-par 74, her best round of the week, to conclude the tournament at 13-over-par and tied for 50th place.

Ultimately, the host Texas Tech was able to take advantage of playing on their home course, claiming victory in the team competition. The Red Raiders finished at 8-under-par, five strokes ahead of second-place UNLV.
The Flashes return to action on Monday, September 30 with the start of the Blessings Collegiate Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The women will compete alongside the men's team in the three-day competition, which will be televised live on the golf channel
