Western Michigan Volleyball Receive Votes in AVCA/TARAFLEX Preseason Poll

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Western Michigan volleyball team received votes in the AVCA/TARAFLEX Division I Women's Volleyball preseason poll which was released on Monday.  
 
Western Michigan received 10 votes in the poll, and was the only team from the Mid-American Conference, as well as the only team in the state of Michigan, to appear in the poll.  
 
Winners of both the MAC Regular Season and Tournament titles last season, the Broncos went 31-3 in 2023, their highest win total since 1983. As MAC Tournament champions, Western Michigan received an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, where it upset No. 7 seed Auburn in the first round for its first NCAA Tournament victory since it reached the Sweet Sixteen in 2008.
 
Reigning MAC Coach of the Year and AVCA Midwest Region Coach of the Year Colleen Munson's squad is set to bring back a large core of the 2023 squad this fall, including MAC Player of the Year, Setter of the Year and AVCA Honorable Mention All-American Logan Case, MAC Defensive Player of the Year Andelyn Simkins and All-MAC Second Team selections Mary Clare BrusekAnna Calcagno and Keona Salesman.
 
Several of WMU's 2024 non-conference opponents appeared in the poll as well, including Kansas (#13), Tennessee (#15), and Marquette (#24). Loyola Marymount was also in the others receiving votes category. The Broncos open up the 2024 campaign against LMU on Friday, August 30, at 6 pm.
