AUSTIN, Texas – Western Michigan redshirt junior outfielder Dylan Nevar has been voted to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-America® Second Team. Nevar is the first WMU baseball player to receive Academic All-American accolades since a trio of Broncos earned Academic All-America status in 1995.

An Electrical Engineering major with a 3.91 GPA, Nevar was an All-MAC Second Team honoree after hitting .353, the eighth-highest mark in the conference, and pacing the league with a new WMU single-season record 71 RBIs. The redshirt junior blasted a team-high 16 home runs, tied for seventh in the conference, and was also among the MAC leaders in runs scored (57, 6th), slugging percentage (.637, 6th), OPS (1.081, 6th), hits (76, T-6) and on-base percentage (.444, 10th).

In the MAC Tournament, Nevar went 6-for-13 (.462), reached base at a .588 clip, scored four times and drove in five runs as he helped Western Michigan to the second MAC Tournament title in program history. He was named the MAC Tournament MVP, joining current Baltimore Oriole Keegan Akin as the only two Broncos to ever earn that honor.

A native of Wisconsin Dells, Wis., Nevar concluded the season ranking second in WMU program history in career home runs (29) and third in career RBIs (160).
