Cleveland, Ohio – Mid-American Conference Commissioner Dr. Jon Steinbrecher has announced the addition of Rachel Rusnak as Director of Communications, beginning July 8, 2024. Rusnak joins the MAC after having served as the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications at the University of Toledo since 2021.
Rusnak served as the primary media contact for the Rockets women’s soccer, women’s swimming & diving, softball, men’s & women’s tennis, men's & women's cross country, and women's track & field programs.
Rusnak was selected as a member of the College Sports Communicators (CSC) "30 Under 30 Award" Class of 2023, an award based on achievement in professional success, impact on their athletic department/ conference office, and service to CSC.
Rusnak began her athletic communications journey as a graduate assistant in the Sports Information Department at McKendree University (Ill.), while pursuing her master's degree.
After graduating, Rusnak briefly worked as an Assistant Director of Sports Communications at Union College (Ky.) (June-October 2021) before joining the Toledo Athletic Department in October of 2021.
A native of Bolingbrook, Ill., Rusnak earned her bachelor's degree in journalism and telecommunications and a minor in sociology from Ball State University in May 2019. While at BSU, she worked as a production assistant and associate with the university's live sports production team that produced live-streamed Cardinal athletic events for ESPN. She received her Master's in Business Administration from McKendree in May 2021.

The Mid-American Conference office is based in Cleveland, Ohio as the Conference office serves 12 full-time members and offer championships in 22 sports.
Founded in 1946, the Mid-American Conference is an NCAA Division I, 12-member conference that sponsors 22 championships and is one of ten members of the Football Bowl Subdivison (FBS). With total enrollment of nearly 300,000 students, the league represents institutions of higher learning in five (5) states - Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, New York, and Ohio.
