KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- For the second consecutive year, Western Michigan graduate student Jen Blitchok was named a College Sports Communicators First Team Academic All-American. Blitchok is the only two-time honoree in program history and just the second to receive first team honors.
The Grandville, Mich. native has a 4.00 in her pursuit of a Masters of Business Administration. She is one of five student-athletes on the first team with a 4.00 GPA. Along with her two-time Academic All-American status, Blitchok is an Academic All-MAC honoree and two-time MAC Female Scholar Athlete of the Week selection.
On the pitch, Blitchok proved herself as the best player in program history, rewriting the record book this season. She finished the 2024 campaign with an NCAA leading 47 points on 18 goals and 11 assists. Blitchok is now the program's single-season record holder for points and goals, beating the old marks of 27 and 12.
Even more impressive, the veteran forward broke some career program records despite being in Kalamazoo for just two seasons. Over her two-year WMU career, she posted 71 points on 27 goals and 17 assists. She ends her impressive career as the program's points leader, while being No. 2 all-time in goals scored.
Blitchok was named the MAC Offensive Player of the Year in 2024 and is a two-time All-MAC First Team honoree. Along with that, she is a a two-time Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week selection and was named the TDS National Player of the Week on Oct. 29, 2024.
Blitchok's great season helped WMU to its second consecutive MAC Regular Season championship. WMU became the first program in MAC history to go undefeated in back-to-back conference seasons. The Broncos also went on to win the MAC Tournament, including a 5-0 victory over Buffalo in the title game. That led to the Brown and Gold's first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 2015.
To be eligible for the women's soccer CSC Academic All-America Team, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore, hold a 3.5 grade point average, and have played in either 90% of the team's games or started in at least 66% of contests.
