MAC Announces Week 10 Player of the Week Honorees

Offensive Co-Player of the Week
Abby Leigh, Middle Blocker, Buffalo

Abby Leigh helped the Bulls to a 2-0 week with wins over the Northern Illinois Huskies. The sixth-year middle blocker was very efficient on the attack as she hit .490 on the week with 28 kills and three errors on 51 attempts. She recorded her 17th career error-free match on Friday with 10 kills on 20 attempts. She averaged 4.00 kills per set on the week. In the MAC, she was the only player on the week to finish in the top five in both hitting percentage and kills per set, fourth in both categories. She also added seven blocks against the Huskies, good for 1.00 blocks per set. In total, she had 32.0 points, resulting in 4.57 points per set.

Offensive Co-Player of the Week
Lauryn Hovey, Opposite, Bowling Green
Lauryn Hovey was the offensive catalyst for the Falcons on their way to a 2-0 weekend. Hovey led the Falcons in kills in both matches, averaging 4.29 kills per set while maintaining a .400 hitting percentage for the weekend. Hovey started with 18 kills in four sets on Friday while hitting .371 to go along with a pair of aces. She followed it up with 12 kills in three sets on Saturday with a .450 hitting percentage and three aces. Hovey came close to a double-double in both matches, finishing seven digs on Friday and eight on Saturday.

Defensive Player of the Week
Andelyn Simkins, Libero, Western Michigan

Andelyn Simkins was a defensive force for the Broncos in their pair of straight-set victories over Toledo, posting 43 digs (7.17/set) and a .929 reception percentage (13-for-14). The fifth-year libero racked up 25 digs in Friday's series opener and followed that up with 18 more on Saturday. Simkins' defensive efforts helped limit the Rockets to a .073 hitting percentage for the weekend.
 
Setter of the Week
Amanda Otten, Bowling Green

Amanda Otten set the BGSU attack to an impressive .303 hitting percentage against Miami over the week as the Falcons went 2-0. In total, Otten averaged 12.14 assists per set, tallying 45 in the four-set match Friday, followed by 40 in the three-set match Saturday. During Friday's match, Otten filled the stat sheet, landing seven kills on 11 error-free attacks (.636) while registering seven digs, four block assists, and two aces in the match. As for Saturday, she logged another five digs, two blocks, two aces, and a kill for a complete effort in both matches.
