The Golden Flashes Men's Basketball team opened play in the Western Slam on Thanksgiving night downing the Towson Tigers by 65-54 final score. Three different Flashes racked up double-digits as Kent State kept the Tigers at bay late in the second half.

Following an early Towson push, Kent State took the lead at 14:07 in the first on a three from Jalen Sullinger as part of a 15-0 run. The Tigers were able to claw back into the half with a pair of buckets. Morgan Safford, Delrecco Gillespie, Cli'Ron Hornbeak allowed Kent State to build back a slight lead with some good finishes underneath. Anthony Morales was fouled making a corner three in the final minute completing the four-point play at the line. After leading at the half, the Golden Flashes went back to work in the second with Davis and Mike Belkelja making quick threes. Morales and Gillespie continued to make key shots along with strong KSU defense down the stretch. The final three minutes saw key rebounds from Safford coupled with buckets from Davis. Kent State put the game away by a 65-54 final.

Safford tallied his third double-digit performance for the blue and gold scoring 11 and hauling in six rebounds. Davis led the Flashes with 18 on the night. Morales is beginning to find his stride as he recorded his third double-digit performance in a row for Kent State. KSU's three games of the Western Slam are the programs first three regular season games outside US soil. Thursday's victory makes the Flashes 1-0 in those games thus far.

Kent State will continue play in the Western Slam on Friday, Nov. 29 at 9:30 p.m. eastern time against the Anteaters of UC Irvine. For more information on Kent State men's basketball, fans can follow the team on XInstagram and Facebook.
