Clayton, Johnson Share Week 3 Men's Hoops Honors

Ohio senior forward AJ Clayton led Ohio this past weekend at the 2024 Myrtle Beach Invitational. In the three-game MTE, Clayton averaged 23.3 points and 9.3 rebounds a game. He also averaged 1.0 blocks, 1.0 steals and 1.6 assists per game. Clayton went 25-of-56 from the field (.446), 11-of-35 (.314) from three and 9-of-13 (.691) from the line. Clayton also earned a spot on the Myrtle Beach Invitational All-Tournament Team. Clayton's biggest night came on Nov. 22 against Portland where he scored a career-high 34 points, going 13-of-26 from the field, 6-of-14 from three, 2-of-4 from the line and tied a career high with 12 rebounds. He also had one assist and two blocks in the victory.

Nate Johnson helped power the Akron Zips to a 3-0 week in the Akron Basketball Classic and earned himself tournament MVP for his performance. The redshirt junior led the Zips with 17.3 points per game over the three-day tournament where he recorded a career-high 25 points in a 97-78 victory over Alabama State on Sunday. Johnson was locked in shooting the ball for the Blue and Gold, hitting on 63 percent of his shots (17-of-27) and 50 percent of his 3-pointers (6-of-12). He shot .500 or better in every game and shot .778 (7-of-9) against Nebraska Omaha where he finished with 18 points. He was also close to perfect at the free throw line, going 12-of-14 from the charity stripe which featured an 8-for-8 performance against the Hornets on Sunday. He added nine rebounds, eight assists and two steals over the three victories.
