George Mason – Wrestling Remains Undefeated after Win at Edinboro
Fairfax, Va.— The George Mason wrestling team rallied on the road tonight to edge MAC opponent Edinboro, 21-18, to open the season undefeated and 2-0 in the MAC.
The Patriots (4-0) split the matches with Edinboro (2-1, 0-0 MAC) but earned extra points with three technical falls. George Mason has now won four straight and six of the last seven matches against the Fighting Scots. Edinboro last defeated the Patriots, 22-20, on Jan. 31, 2021.
The match was deadlocked at 18-18 heading into the final match. A true freshman, Blackman earned a 5-0 win against sophomore Kade Sottolano as the Patriots escaped Edinboro win a victory.
Three ranked Patriots each dominated their match with tech falls: #33
Kaden Cassidy (149), #25
Evan Maag (165), and #24
Malachi DuVall (184). Cassidy earned his second TF of the season with a 15-0 (3:27) against Garrett McChesney. Maag win by tech fall was his second, defeating Max Kirby, 24-9 (6:39). DuVall won 15-0 (6:09) against the Scots Hunter Hutchenson.

Up Next: The Patriots will travel to Clarion for a match against the Eagles in an afternoon tilt. Clarion has won three straight duals against the Patriots. The last time George Mason defeated Clarion was on Nov. 17, 2019, by a narrow 19-18 margin.
