HAMILTON, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference crowned three Miami RedHawks as champions at the inaugural MAC Women’s Tennis Doubles and Singles Championship on Sunday, Oct. 27, at the Riverside Athletic Club in Hamilton, Ohio. Emilia Valentinssonn and Sara Zalukar secured the Doubles title, while Catherine Denysiewicz claimed the Singles Championship.
Valentinssonn and Zalukar defeated Eastern Michigan’s Sabina Brichackova and Prerna Vichare in straight sets, 6-1, 6-3, on Sunday morning, earning the tournament's first trophy. Denysiewicz, after dropping her opening set to Ball State’s Annika Planinsek, made a strong comeback to win the next two sets and secure the Singles title.
All three RedHawks earned an automatic entry into the main draw of the 2024 ITA Conference Masters Tournament, which will take place Nov. 7-10 in Rome, Ga.
