Swimmer of the Week
Madelyn Gatrall, Redshirt-Senior, Akron
Madelyn Gatrall claimed first in six events for the Akron swimming and diving, propelling the Zips to a first-place finish at the Zips Classic. Gatrall claimed individual gold medals in the 100 and 200-yard backstroke events with times of 53.49 and 1:57.14, respectively. Furthermore, she won the 100 back by 1.67 seconds and the 200 back by 4.57 seconds. In addition, Gatrall led off the 400-yard medley relay with a 53.53 time as the Zips cruised to a 3:37.41 time for gold. She was also the lead leg of the 200-yard medley relay, swimming 25.00 for a 1:39.49 victory. Gatrall helped secure several victories in the 400 and 800-yard free relays. In the 400, she posted a 49.66 as the third leg, where the Zips won with a time of 3:20.80. In the 800, she was the anchor, clocking a 1:49.93 en route to a first-place 7:22.22 time.

Marialis Kwak, Senior, Buffalo
Marialis Kwak won both the one-meter (306.38) and three-meter (300.15) competitions in Buffalo’s season-opening meet against Cornell, picking up where she left off at MAC Championships in the spring.
